Constitution River heads a fascinating Prix du Jockey Club field, while Crest Of Fire and Redorange look among the standout betting angles in the UK and Ireland, as the Final Furlong Podcast’s Emmet Kennedy looks to follow up last weekend’s 22/1 winner for 1xBet Ireland horse racing with a Lucky 63 for the weekend.

Constitution River

Prix du Jockey Club (Sunday)

Constitution River looks one of the most exciting middle-distance colts in Europe and could take plenty of beating in the Prix du Jockey Club.

By Wootton Bassett and out of a lightly raced full sister to David Menuisier’s brilliant Group 1-winning mare Wonderful Tonight, his pedigree strongly suggests he will continue improving with racing and distance.

He has done exactly that so far:

  • runner-up on debut behind the smart Distant Storm

  • unbeaten since

  • impressive Group 2 Futurity Stakes winner as a juvenile

  • devastating 7L winner of the Dee Stakes on his return

That Chester form already looks strong, with subsequent Listed winner Golden Story behind him and German 2000 Guineas runner-up Shayem back in fourth.

His stablemate Hawk Mountain brings proven Group 1 form into the race and rates a serious rival, but Constitution River has the profile of a genuine star for the season ahead.

Crest Of Fire

15:45 Carlisle - Silver Bowl Handicap (Saturday)

Crest Of Fire has strong form lines for a handicapper and remains open to significant improvement.

He shaped well on debut behind Humidity and subsequent UAE 2000 Guineas winner Title Role before bumping into French 2000 Guineas third Hanklow on his second start.

His subsequent collateral form is solid:

  • beaten 2L by Laureate Crown, who later won handicaps off 87 and 93

  • twice finished behind McMurrary, who recently landed a valuable Chester handicap

He returned this season with a dominant 10L success at Southwell and should improve again:

  • second start of the season

  • second run since a gelding operation

  • return to handicap company

Trainer form is the slight concern, but he was well backed before last weekends farcical scenes at Haydock, meant the race was pushed back to this weekend, which suggests stable confidence. His trainer described him as “exciting” after his Southwell win.

Redorange

14:33 Carlisle - Achilles Stakes (Saturday)

Redorange shaped well on his York comeback behind Jakajaro, who subsequently got within 1¼L of Night Raider in Group 2 company.

He then justified strong market support when winning at Windsor four days later.

A Listed runner-up in France last season, he has the profile of a sprinter capable of improving again at four, particularly for a yard that excels with speed horses.

Opportunity

13:30 Carlisle - Handicap (Saturday)

Opportunity remains lightly raced and potentially very well treated off a mark of 92.

By Frankel and out of a dual Group 1-winning mare over 10f, he shaped well on his return from a lengthy absence when third, performing best of the hold-up horses in the race.

The form has already been boosted and there should be more improvement to come:

  • second start after a layoff

  • second run since a gelding operation

  • step back into handicap company

His earlier form with subsequent St Leger runner-up Rahiebb also reads particularly well.

The Dancing Pirate

14:48 Beverley - Two-Year-Old Trophy EBF Conditions Stakes (Saturday)

Cut A Dash sets the standard on form and could easily develop into a Royal Ascot juvenile, but The Dancing Pirate makes significant appeal at bigger odds.

The son of Blackbeard was strongly backed on debut at Newmarket and shaped well in fourth behind a highly regarded winner.

The race has worked out well:

  • winner now favourite for a Listed race at Sandown

  • third, fourth and fifth all won next time

His trainer has won two of the last four renewals of this race and 8/1with 1xBet Ireland  looks generous given the strength of that debut form.

Dark Lucinda

16:19 Gowran Park - Gowran Classic (Monday)

Paddy Twomey’s excellent start to the season could continue with Dark Lucinda.

The daughter of Dark Angel looked a smart prospect when making a winning debut over course and distance, dictating from the front before quickly putting the race to bed.

Twomey immediately nominated this race afterwards and she looks very well treated under the conditions.

Given the current form of the stable, she could prove difficult to beat.

Cosmic Year

20:58 Monmouth Park (Saturday)

Cosmic Year could thrive in the United States for Chad Brown.

He beat subsequent Group 2 winner Marvelman last season and later finished second to Field Of Gold in the Irish 2,000 Guineas.

His British campaign ended disappointingly, but his earlier form is strong in the context of this race and American racing should suit his style well.

King Of Earth

20:00 Wolverhampton – Race And Rest At The Holiday Inn Maiden Stakes – 1m½f (Monday)

King Of Earth shaped with significant promise on his seasonal debut at Newbury.

A half-brother to Group 1 winners King Of Change and Century Dream, he still held an entry in the 2,000 Guineas at the time and his comeback form has worked out strongly, with the second, third and fifth all winning subsequently.

With Tom Marquand booked, he should take plenty of beating in maiden company.

Rydale Frosty

19:15 Windsor – Sprint Series Handicap – 6f (Monday)

Rydale Frosty produced an encouraging effort on his handicap and seasonal debut at Newmarket on Guineas weekend.

Dropped 1lb and now returning for his second run after a break, he looks capable of getting closer to Comical Point and could prove well treated as the season develops.
