Royal Ascot Saturday Betting Tips: Comanche Brave and Double Rush Head Final Day Selections

In this 1xBet Ireland review, we will explore the key storylines of Royal Ascot Day Five. Emmet Kennedy highlights the best betting angles in the Norfolk Stakes, Hardwicke Stakes, Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes and Wokingham Handicap, with Comanche Brave, Double Rush and Illinois among Saturday's leading fancies.

Royal Ascot concludes with another outstanding seven-race card and several compelling betting opportunities. Here are the horses that appeal most on the final day of the meeting.

14:30 Royal Ascot - Norfolk Stakes (Group 2) - 5f

Aidan O'Brien has won this race four times, including with Charles Darwin last year, and he looks to hold another strong hand with Carry The Flag.

Second on debut, he subsequently beat Sun Goddess, now favourite for the Albany Stakes, before pushing subsequent Coventry Stakes winner Great Barrier Reef all the way in the Group 3 Marble Hill Stakes at the Curragh.

The drop back to 5f looks a positive and his proven Group form sets a high standard.

Star Prospect, who beat Carry The Flag on debut, needs to bounce back from an odds-on defeat at Naas, but Joseph O'Brien's colt could outrun his price.

15:05 Royal Ascot - Hardwicke Stakes (Group 2) - 1m4f

Laurent Barbarin, Sky Sports Racing's French expert, nominated Best Secret as his best value bet of the meeting when appearing on the Final Furlong Podcast.

The German-trained colt produced a career-best effort when winning a Group 3 on his latest start, beating West Wind Blows by a wider margin than both Kalpana and Calandagan managed in subsequent Group 1 company.

The form received another significant boost when Map Of Stars, who finished behind Best Secret last time, bolted up in the Wolferton Stakes earlier this week.

Oracle also warrants respect. He was beaten 10 lengths by Best Secret on his latest start but previously finished within two lengths of Goliath when the Francis-Henri Graffard-trained runner won on Prix du Jockey Club day. He was a dominant King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes winner over this course and distance two years ago and remains capable of better.

15:40 Royal Ascot - Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes (Group 1) - 6f

Comanche Brave looks overpriced in an open sprint division.

Sent off favourite for last year's Jersey Stakes, he finished third before shaping as though a return to sprinting would suit. As a juvenile, he split subsequent Group 1 winners Henri Matisse and Arizona Blaze at Leopardstown and later finished within a length of Grade 1 winner Reef Runner and last year's Jubilee Stakes hero Lazzat in Riyadh.

Dropped back to 6f in Hong Kong, he was sent off at huge odds against Ka Ying Rising in the Chairman's Sprint Prize before returning to the Curragh, where he was heavily backed from 7/2 into 7/4 and produced a dominant display.

Timeform awarded him a rating of 129+ for that performance, a figure surpassed by only one European rival this season.

The obvious danger is Japanese raider Satono Reve, who finished second in this race last year and now has Ryan Moore in the saddle. However, at around 4/1, his price reflects his chance.

At double-figure odds, Comanche Brave offers greater value and can provide Donnacha O'Brien with another Royal Ascot winner.

16:20 Royal Ascot - Jersey Stakes (Group 3) - 7f

All eyes will be on the William Haggas-trained Saber Strike, who is unbeaten in two starts and looked a colt of considerable potential when winning a Listed race at Newmarket.

He quickened clear of subsequent Listed winner Elusive Butterfly and has reportedly continued to impress at home.

A step up to Group company should hold no fears and he sets a high standard.

17:00 Royal Ascot - Wokingham Stakes (Heritage Handicap) - 6f

Double Rush is the best bet of the day.

Unbeaten in two starts since joining Andrew Balding, he has drawn comparisons with Never So Brave, who won the Buckingham Palace Stakes off a mark of 105 last year before landing the Group 1 City of York Stakes.

Double Rush won the same two Newmarket handicaps that More Thunder captured last season before finishing second in the Wokingham and later runner-up in the Queen Anne Stakes.

Crucially, Double Rush recorded Racing Post Ratings seven and eight pounds higher than More Thunder achieved in those races.

He remains open to further improvement and, with a clear run, looks capable of developing into a Group-class sprinter.

18:10 Royal Ascot - Queen Alexandra Stakes (Conditions Race) - 2m5½f

The longest race of the meeting looks straightforward on paper.

Illinois was sent off second favourite for last year's Gold Cup and ran an excellent race to finish second to Trawlerman. He subsequently pushed St Leger winner Scandinavia close despite conceding a stone in weight.

He shaped encouragingly on his reappearance at Chester and can be forgiven his disappointing run in the Coronation Cup, where testing ground blunted his stamina.

Back on a sounder surface and dropping significantly in class, Illinois should prove too strong for this opposition if reproducing his best form.
